Be

The soil will slowly be absorbed in my limbs;
The colors will slowly bleed under my skin.
The earth will slowly embrace me;
The canvas will slowly caress me.
For when I will be born;
For when I will be created.
Then I shall be,
What I am meant to be.

BHARTI VERMA

A storyteller, Bharti narrates through brush strokes, bringing abstract to lucid. Her expression of love for art and literature sprouted at an early age; she engaged with colours on canvas and words on paper with the same enthusiasm. After schooling in Saharanpur, she pursued English hons from Delhi University, completing her masters in English literature. Her two passions fuelled her further to explore the magical world of art as a medium to express herself.

With a practice spanning over three decades, Bharti Verma’s work explores the invisible emotional and psychological forces that shape human existence. Her early forest series and human figures emerge as parallel metaphors, both seeking to capture intangible, unnamed emotions that resist form yet surface through artistic expression.

The forests are not depictions of nature alone but living presences, carrying memory, silence, and resilience. Over time, trees become as human as the figures that appear more distinctly in her later works, dissolving boundaries between body and landscape. Central to her practice is the idea of primordial memory, ancestral imprints carried within our genes, manifesting as fleeting emotions and subtle energies that connect us to both past and present.

Working extensively in restrained chromatic palette, she embraces their emotional depth and intensity. Through this restrained palette, her work reveals layers of absence, presence, and quiet transformation.

Her artworks adorn the walls of collectors and art lovers not only across India but also in Europe, the United States, and Australia, reflecting the universal resonance of her visual language.
